The perfect aperitif to enjoy with food & friends

Wild Elixir is a deliciously unique range of Sussex aperitifs from Slake Spirits. Created to celebrate moments of joyful abundance and showcase Sussex’s natural bounty.

The Bacchus gin-based aperitif is a naturally sweet but sophisticated blend of Sussex grown Bacchus grapes from Stopham Estate and our Sussex Dry Gin. All-natural flavours with no added sugar. This unaged single varietal expression is meticulously made to help you make the most of those special moments.

Produced annually in October, the first production of only ca. 1300 bottles was made in 2020, so when it’s gone, it’s gone! As with all our spirits, the bottles are individually numbered with batch & bottle number. Now also available in a 200ml bottle, perfect to gift!

Tasting notes:

Bright, luscious and fruity with floral notes and grapefruit character. Well-balanced and decidedly moreish.

Serving suggestions:

Our Bacchus gin-based aperitif is the ideal way to start or finish a meal when served chilled with cheese, charcuterie, pickles & olives or melon and soft fruits. This versatile spirit can also be enjoyed topped with soda or tonic water to make a refreshing and sophisticated spritzer.

  1. Frank Hollis (verified owner)

An excellent accompaniment to a mild blue cheese at the end of a meal.

Thanks for sharing that Frank! The other day I found a lovely local soft sheeps cheese that pairs wonderfully with the Bacchus aperitif, called Little Sussex from High Weald Dairy. I can highly recommend it. Also works with the Slipcote with dill and the Seven Sisters Goats cheese. We’re lucky to live here! 🧀

  2. Irv

My wife has just brought home a bottle of the Bacchus aperitif from a tasting at Slake, as a Christmas present – but she couldn’t resist opening it for “me” as she had just tasted some.

Sharing is caring! Or something like that… Thanks Irv. Glad it’s going down so well!
